Catholics claim their place at Religious Pride

Faith and fabulousness have never been strangers in this city, and this year a Catholic voice made that plain. New Ways Ministry reports that LGBTQ+ Catholics took part in Amsterdam's Religious Pride, using the occasion to claim their place in the Church. The headline says it neatly: this is not about asking permission to belong, but about stating that they already do. Religious Pride sits alongside the wider Pride calendar as a space for people whose identities and beliefs are too often set against each other. For many queer people of faith, that tension is lived daily, in families, parishes and friendships. Seeing it addressed openly, in public, in a city this visible, matters. It also says something about Amsterdam itself. The city's queer life has always been broader than the dancefloor: it includes activists, believers, neighbours, elders and newcomers. Pride here has long worked because it makes room for many kinds of people at once, and the religious strand is part of that picture. That spirit is exactly what we care about at Vibra. Nightlife is one way a community finds itself, but the best nights are the ones where everyone feels they can walk in as they are, whatever they carry with them. Vibra helps you find LGBTQ+ nights in Amsterdam, book tickets in a few taps, and earn Pulse points each time you show up, so that loyalty to the places and people who make the scene welcoming is recognised. Belonging is built one evening at a time, and we would like to help you keep count.
